National Secretary’s message

In this edition of FSU Online you will see there is a lot of member activity across the sector as finance workers campaign together to improve working lives.

Just yesterday we met with Westpac management and a HFM union representative after a number of HFM’s contacted the union with concerns about their new scorecard and incentive scheme. Due to the responses of FSU members the bank is looking at extending the consultation period on these issues.

This is a stark example of the power of finance workers acting together and speaking up about concerns. Westpac HFM’s should keep an eye on their inbox for further details early next week.

Now is the time to speak up about targets and performance appraisals. I encourage members to call on the union if you don’t agree with your appraisal for last year, if you don’t agree with your targets for the coming year, or if you want to know about your rights at work.

Our Member Rights Centre operates between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and you can call us on 1300 366 378.

Change is possible, if we speak up and stand together.

In unity,

Fiona Jordan
FSU National Secretary

Secure our jobs and our future at ANZ by signing the petition today

2000 and rising. That’s how many signatures there are so far on the FSU petition to ANZ - in just a few days. And there’s time for you to sign too.

The petition calls on ANZ to stop the claw back of rights that has been proposed at the bargaining table and to deliver on the key areas of pay, workloads, targets and relief, as well as allowing staff to access the independent umpire the Fair Work Commission.

Sign the petition online.

Once you’ve signed, ask your workmates to sign the petition too.

Job cuts at Westpac

FSU members are calling on Westpac to come clean about all planned changes to Customer Contact Centres (CCC) in the wake of news that the bank proposes to close the CCC’s in WA and Queensland and amid rumours that further changes are on the cards.

The proposed closures mean 231 jobs are on the line.

FSU members are strongly encouraged to provide feedback during the 14 day consultation period so the bank has a clear picture of how this proposed change will impact on employees.

NAB dispute is crystal clear: Fair Work Commission

NAB call centre reps appeared this week at the Fair Work Commission in Melbourne to work through the unpaid overtime and performance objectives concerns raised by members.

Fair Work said the issues are crystal clear and that NAB must give consideration to the start times, finish times and follow up time - and respond to FSU Reps within two to three weeks.

The Commission also said it will ‘check in’ on progress over the next 3 to 4 weeks and that the reps have the option of seeking further assistance if the matters are not resolved.

Great work from our fantastic FSU reps!

UniSuper bargaining kicks off

FSU Reps at UniSuper have been very active lately, conducting a survey of members, developing a log of claims and running a member vote on the claim. Their hard work isn’t over though; now the FSU member negotiators Sarah, Angela, Dan and Benedict are at the bargaining table with UniSuper management to hammer out a deal. Good luck team!
