FSU officials review 2013 in this end of year video message.
Thank you for being part of our union in 2013. We have achieved a great deal together, winning on the issues that matter to finance workers.
The reason we won on these issues and ran successful campaigns is because of the active participation of members. Whether you were part of our federal election campaign activities, if you were a booth captain in the St George, BankSA, Bank of Melbourne ballot, if you were part of the ANZ Direct working group that campaigned to keep 590 jobs in Australia, or if you took part in one of the many activities we invited members to be part of in 2013 then I hope you enjoy the end of year break.
And while we stop to take a break to spend time with family and friends over the festive season, it is important to take a moment to reflect on what we have achieved in 2013, and prepare for the coming year. If you were active in your union in 2013, we will be calling on you again next year. If you weren’t active, 2014 will be a good year to be active.
Tremendous challenges and opportunities await us in 2014 as the Our Jobs Our Future campaign gears up to secure pay for finance workers, and the federal government’s Financial System Inquiry gets underway. The new year will also bring new workplace bullying laws, and perhaps an undoing of all the good work done on financial advice reforms. There will be plenty to do, and we will need all hands on deck.
Stay safe, enjoy your time away from work, and get ready to campaign and win again in the new year.
