FINANCE SECTOR UNION CALLS ON POLITICAL PARTIES TO MAKE SURE BANKWEST REMAINS LOCAL AND STRONG.
This election season the FSU is running a campaign to ensure our political leaders commit to local jobs and our local community by committing to extend protections contained in the Bankwest Act.
The FSU have written to the leaders of the three major political parties in WA to seek their commitment to keeping Bankwest strong and local by extending guarantees contained in the Bankwest Act.
Key protections for the WA community were included into the Bankwest Act by the WA Government but these protections expire in September this year and the FSU has asked the CBA to make an ongoing commitment to maintain its current presence in WA for a further five years.
The Commonwealth Bank has refused to make these commitments.
This means our political leaders need to stand up and protect local jobs and local communities by extending these guarantees in the Bankwest Act.
If they don’t these protections in the Bankwest Act will expire, and CBA could reduce the numbers of branches and make a large number of staff redundant. There are concerns customers will be forced to move to other branches, or even change banks because there was no longer a Bankwest branch near them.

This is why we need to keep Bankwest Strong and Local. If you haven’t yet signed our petition you can do so here.
