“Absolutely gut-wrenching” – CBA cut 150 jobs from Brisbane Group Operations
Yesterday CBA announced that they will cut 150 jobs from the Brisbane Group Operations Centre. This announcement means that CBA Group Operations in Australia will only be located in Perth and Sydney.
The cuts will occur in two tranches with 66 staff losing their jobs by 3 September 2017 and a further 84 staff becoming unemployed in the first half of 2018.
The impacted teams include discharges and settlements and as recently as last Saturday were working overtime to complete work that was required.
Queensland Local Executive Secretary Wendy Streets said "We need good jobs in Queensland and if they were working overtime over the weekend, you can't tell me the work's not there."
The Union is consulting with impacted workers and will be looking to provide feedback to CBA by the end of the week.
