Join FSU members on International Women’s Day 2019

Dear FSU members,

Soon we'll face a federal election. International Women's Day 2019 is on Friday 8th March and is an important, worldwide celebration. Both events present us with opportunities to engage union members, supporters and the community more broadly by raising key issues on behalf of working women.

We have the power to get a pay rise for working women. We need to be loud, not stop and it starts with this Rally. I am inviting you to attend our rally on Friday 8 March, 5:15 pm, Supreme Court Gardens (RSVPs online here). This is your chance to act.

The UnionsWA rally theme on International Women's Day 2019 is 'Working Women Change the Rules'. This acknowledges the many battles that women are facing in the workplace, the gender pay gap, discrimination, fighting for equal work for equal pay and basic workplace entitlements like domestic violence leave.

We know that our workplace laws are stacked against fairness for women. Our workplace relations system has resulted in a persistent gap in pay between working women and men. Our workplaces are not designed to accommodate the interests of women, whether that be in our work goals and in our roles outside of work as carers or community members. Help make these issues count in this important year for all working people.

In unity,

Di Marshall
WA Local Executive Secretary
